Limited Visibility Diver -- Distinctive Specialty

This specialty is a Distinctive Specialty, meaning that it is taught by an instructor who has been approved by Mountain lakes and reservoirs in Colorado often exhibit less than 3 feet of visibility to teach this unique, instructor-authored course.  This course helps students master skills and knowledge that are critical in limited visibility and zero-visibility diving, such as:

  • Controlled descents & ascents
  • Communication
  • Navigation
  • Maintaining buddy contact
  • Maintaining proper buoyancy
  • Equipment concerns and issues

Prerequisites: Students must be at least 12 years old and hold at least a Open Water (or Junior Open Water) certification, or equivalent. 

The course consists of classroom sessions, followed by optional pool sessions and three (3) open water dives, conducted over 1-2 days in an open-water site that provides limited visibility conditions.

Course fees: $200

Contact Abyss-Scuba to sign up!  This course is taught by our resident Master Scuba Diver Trainer and IDC Staff Instructor with over 400 logged dives. It is scheduled and run on a demand-basis -- there are no pre-scheduled class dates.
