O2 Provider

The Divers Alert Network (DAN) course: Oxygen First Aid for Scuba Diving Injuries (O2 Provider) was designed to fill the void in oxygen first aid training available for the general diving public. O2 Provider Courses

This course represents entry level training designed to educate the general diving (and qualified non-diving) public in recognizing possible dive related injuries and providing emergency oxygen first aid while activating the local emergency medical services (EMS) and/or arranging for evacuation to the nearest available medical facility.

This speciality course will teach you how to recognize possible dive related injuries and be able to administer emergency oxygen first aid, activate EMS, and/or arrange for evacuation to the nearest medical facility.

After your primary assesment (ABC's), the next step is to provide 100 % oxygen for any pressure related injury.  In this course you will learn how to provide oxygen, as well as the signs and symptoms of a pressure related injury or near drowning.

In DANīs most recent dive accident record, less than 33% of injured divers received emergency oxygen in the field. Few of those received oxygen concentrations approaching the recommended 100%. DAN and all major diving instructional agencies recommend that all divers be qualified to provide 100% oxygen in the field to those injured in a dive accident.

During the course you will learn the use of the oxygen unit, including assembly, disassembly, storage of unit when not in use, components, etc. The course is held over a 4 hour period, and usually offered in the evenings.

Prerequisites: Must be at least 12 years of age.  Must have completed PADI Medic First Aid course or current CPR certification in last 2 years. If your CPR certification is expired, we can arrange a course designed to complete both courses at the same time.

Course fees: $50
