Rescue Diver Course
Up until the Rescue Diver
Course all your diving has been focused on yourself and your own
skills and safety. The Rescue Diver Course is where you begin
to learn how to focus on other people. To become a Rescue
Diver you need to be confidant in your own diving abilities.
If
you are interested in further continuing education as a diver and
are interested in learning the skills that will prepare you for
helping others in diving rescue situations, consider this exciting
class -- considered the most enjoyable & fun SCUBA certification
program.
Prerequisites: To become
a Rescue Diver you must be at least 12 years old, be at least a
Advanced Open Water Diver, Junior Advanced Open Water or equivalent,
and have completed a Medic First Aid Course or other equivalent
CPR certification within the past two years.
This Course is designed as a self study course that begins by reading the
manual and completing knowledge reviews at home on your own time. Upon completion
of the manual, you will go over your knowledge reviews with your Instructor
in the classroom, and then take a final exam. A passing score of 75% is required
to pass.
Then it's off to the pool where you practice all of the rescue techniques.
Once your Instructor feels confidant of your skills, you're off to the open
water. During your open water dives you will go thru 10 open water exercises
and 2 open water scenarios.

- Response to a panicked diver
- Panicked diver at the surface
- Response to a conscious victim from boat/shore
- Distressed diver underwater
- Search for a missing diver
- Surfacing the unconscious diver
- Response to a unconscious diver
- Egress with an unconscious diver
- First aid for pressure-related accidents
- Response to an unconscious victim from boat/shore

Rescue Diver Course Fee:
$220.00
Add $80 for Blue Hole and $100 for The Crater Trips
Course fees do not include course materials, certification processing fee,
or any equipment. Rescue students are expected to have their own mask, fins,
snorkels, etc. Rental scuba gear is available from Abyss-Scuba.
The PADI Rescue Diver program can be followed by Master Scuba Diver, or you
can continue into the Divemaster, and the Assistant Instructor (AI) training
sequence.
All students enrolled in a course with Abyss-Scuba receive a 10% discount
